March 3-11, 2018
Lake Atitlan Area
These well-organized trips are sponsored through the Hands for Health Foundation and the office of the First Lady of Guatemala (SOSEP). Dr. Camille Bentley has been working in this area for over 16 years, and has personally organized over 22 ongoing successful medical outreach “Jornadas” to the Mayans living in this area. She is full-time faculty and Director of Medical Outreach at Rocky Vista University, so the trips provide an international experience for their students. Licensed Physicians, PA’s, nurses and others are needed to precept the students as they work with the patients. We focus on providing basic primary care to all ages, simple laboratory, reading glasses to those in need and meds when appropriate. When available we will also provide dental, osteopathic manipulation and have use of a portable ultrasound machine. At this time there are no specific Guatemala MOH requirements for foreign Health Care workers to practice there as part of this group.
